Liza Volodko | Lead Coach - Performance
Liza’s journey through tennis is both inspiring and world-class. Growing up in Europe, she trained and competed alongside some of today’s top professionals, including Elena Rybakina, and faced many of the current top-100 WTA players. As a junior, she achieved a Tennis Europe ranking of No.23 and an ITF Junior ranking of No.213, before breaking into the professional circuit with a WTA ranking of No.1075. Liza has also won an impressive 27 Tennis Europe Titles, 23 Russian National Titles, and 5 ITF titles.
At just 17, Liza earned a place on the NCAA Division I team at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she played predominantly at the No.1 singles and doubles positions. During her five years there, she served as team captain, won over 70 singles and 40 doubles matches, and helped elevate UCSB to a top-25 national ranking while completing both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Liza has been on the very same pathway that our current players are aspiring to be on, making her journey both relatable and inspiring.
Liza’s coaching career has been equally impressive. At the Santa Barbara Tennis Academy, she helped guide more than a dozen elite juniors into top U.S. universities such as Stanford, MIT, and UCLA. Most recently, as Lead Coach in England, she focused on developing and delivering the junior high-performance program, combining technical and tactical development with her expertise in sports psychology and cognitive behavioural training to strengthen the mental side of her athletes’ games.
